Regulation on Undergraduate Teaching Supervision System of College of Materials Science and Engineering

In order to promote the improvement of teaching quality and teaching management level, and promote the strength of the construction of teaching style and study style, this regulation is formulated to improve the teaching quality monitoring and guarantee system of college, carry out effective teaching quality monitoring activities, improve the quality of personnel training, and standardize the teaching supervision work.

I. Members and Responsibilities of Teaching Supervision Group

1. Under the leadership of vice president in charge of teaching, the Teaching Supervision Group cooperates with the Academic Affairs Office to collect, supervise and inspect teaching information on teaching quality, order, teaching and learning style, etc. Besides, the Teaching Supervision Group is an advisory organization for the teaching reform, construction and operation management of the college.

2. The Teaching Supervision Group is composed of retired professors and associate professors, who are serious and responsible, and actively express their opinions based on their rich experiences in teaching or teaching management and their rigorous academic research.

3. Teaching supervisors should be proposed by the Office of Academic Affairs after soliciting the relevant parties and obtaining their permission. Then, this proposal should be submitted to the vice president for authorizing and issuing the certificates.

4. Teaching supervisors should be employed once every two years, and may be reappointed for a consecutive term, or may resign for health or other reasons

5. One group leader should be appointed. The Office of Academic Affairs is responsible for the management of the teaching supervisory group.


II. Duties of Teaching Supervision Group

1. The teaching supervisory group should formulate the supervision plan each semester.

2. The supervisor work should go deep into the front line of teaching, collect the first-hand materials for the comprehensive analysis, accurate evaluation, in order to seek truth from facts, and maintain the seriousness of the supervision work.

3. Each teaching supervisor attends classes 6 times a week, spot checks on teachers' teaching plans, syllabus, textbooks and other teaching materials, and fill in the “Classroom Teaching Quality Evaluation Form”, which shall be sent to the Academic Affairs Office for archiving at both middle and end of the semester.

4. Graduation project (Thesis) inspection is conducted in the second semester of each academic year, 4 times per week. The “Checklist of Graduation Project (Thesis)” will be filed and sent to the Office of Academic Affairs for archiving at both the middle and end of the semester.

5. Inspection and supervision of teaching order. Each person checks the teaching order 4 times a week and fills in the "Checklist of Teaching Order". At the beginning of each month, the inspection checklist will be sent to the Office of Academic Affairs in written form, and the Office of Academic Affairs will report the college on the inspection of teaching order once a month.

6. Teaching supervisors generally do not give prior notice for the coming inspections, to learn the actual status. However, the supervising group should have a collective discuss and reach a consensus before sending the feedback of inspection opinions to teachers and colleges.

7. The teaching emergencies should be timely fed back to the Academic Affairs Office, and necessary communication and explanation should be carried out with teachers and students.

8. The teaching supervision group shall hold at least a working meeting once a semester to exchange and analyze the inspection situation, and put forward suggestions and measures for improvement. At the end of each semester, the group leader summarizes the supervision work and submits a written summary report to the college.

9. Teaching supervisors should wear the badge of teaching supervisor made by the university when they carry out the work.


III. Supplementary Provisions

1. The college is responsible for providing necessary working conditions for teaching supervisions.

2. After the teaching supervisor completes the tasks of each semester, the college will pay him/her the appropriate monthly remuneration (except winter and summer holidays).

3. Both teachers and students of the college should actively support and cooperate with the work of the teaching supervisor, and accept the inspection, supervision and advice of teaching supervisor.

4. This regulation shall be interpreted by the Office of Academic Affairs.
